About Nathan

Nathan Craze is currently playing his 7th professional season, but first as a starting goaltender in the British Elite League with the Edinburgh Capitals. 2011 saw Nathan called up to the Great Britain senior team playing his first Senior International game winning 5-2 against The Netherlands. This performance underlined his selection to the Great Britain World Championship team that won the silver medal in Kiev, Ukraine, that saw Nathan maintain a 7-0 shut-out against Estonia.

Nathan started playing his hockey at 7 years of age under the Junior Development programme at Cardiff; playing at all age levels to the Cardiff Devils Professional team; where at the age of 14 he started training at British National League level.

Within junior hockey Nathan has represented all age levels including the South West Conference teams and junior International hockey for every England age group including representing Great Britain at Under 18’s and 20’s in the World Championships.

Nathan has playing experience at all senior levels in the U.K. from English National League, English Premier League and the Elite League. And in the past 6 years has been successful at both Professional and International levels winning 5 Professional Championships playing in the Elite League and English Premier League as well as 2 gold Medals at the Junior World Championships at under 18’s and 20’s levels. Nathan has received many personal awards which he attributes to his dedication and hard work whilst being a team player.

With a passion for coaching and starting at the age of 16 Nathan has coached goalies from as young as 5 years old to those their 50’s who are just playing for fun. Nathan as a Head Goalie Coach has had the opportunity to coach goalies at various clubs all over the UK implementing his unique training programme at weekly sessions. Whilst playing in the US Nathan was made Head Goalie Coach of a state pee-wee team and successfully raised the standards of all their junior goalies to much acclaim from the club’s President.

As Head Goalie Coach and Selector for the England Under 16’s team for 3 years at the EIHA School of Excellence Nathan has personally coached many Conference, England and Great Britain junior goalies seeing them progress where many are currently playing professional hockey.

Nathan is constantly building upon his coaching knowledge and experience for the benefit of his student goalies, always ready to give the best possible advice. Nathan has attended various EIHA coaching camps to level 3 and is also qualified fitness instructor. Nathan’s knowledge and understanding of goalie techniques, fitness conditioning and mental toughness needed for the game will be shared with his students to enable each one the opportunity to reach their potential.

Nathan has an affinity with young goalies recognising the need to provide solid coaching through a happy and constructive medium.
